The range of tasks for writing [is] excellent... would really get students thinking... [I particularly like] the variety of ideas and suggestions before the worksheets are introduced; it is easy to forget such things when in the thick of exam prep, so these provide great scope to get students' interest. I also like the way sentence form / SPaG is embedded without it being a separate element, so students can see directly the impact of experimenting with different parts of it... Lots of options to adapt/use with different levels of ability.
Allow[s] pupils to build up and develop skills... Pulls together a lot of information into one place.
Gives lots of ideas into the different types of writing students may have to face, allowing them to get to know the different genres of non-fiction... Ideas for letters are good and echo the SAMs... I would dip into it for worksheet-based cover work...

An excellent resource – the level of detail means that you would be able to differentiate the tasks based on the students that you had in front of you... I particularly liked the setting section – the idea of creating Alternative Histories was very interesting... This is a perfect resource for a non-specialist/NQT as the lesson plans / resources mean you could 'off the shelf' teach it. ...this could be exactly what inexperienced teachers are looking for. The tone and pitch of the pack suggest that teachers would gain a lot from this... [This resource] has a lot of educational value as it has many useful activities to help students to develop their creative writing skills... [It is] geared towards the requirements of the new GCSE specs... The ‘Inspiration and Games’ section has some very useful ideas for general starters... I like the idea of using this either as a SoW or as stand-alone lessons – a dipping-in resource.
