What do teachers say about this resource? (7045)
Refreshing to see a resource specifically tailored to the IB with a focus on oral presentation. There is a good balance between commentary on text to support learning and debate prompts which encourage discussion and confidence in oral presentation. The resource maintained a focus on the oral assessment throughout. The play was very much considered as a text in performance - this is often lacking in study guides for dramatic texts. The resource is pitched in such a way that it could be incorporated for both Standard and Higher Diploma learners, enabling its use as either an extension or support tool. Presentation was clear through and the consistent structure made it easy to navigate to specific parts of the text. The responses and indicative content were clear and detailed. This resource maintains a focus on the fact that this is a detailed study for oral assessment and there is a good balance between range of information provided and suitability for the constraints of the final assessment.
This resource matches and interprets the specification to a very high standard. It prepares students for their internally marked oral commentary by providing samples of extracts and guiding questions for self-practice. It also extends further questions for differentiation purposes. It rigorously encourages students to pay attention to details, comment on language, and explore themes, whilst peeling character. The material provided satisfies the assessment criteria of understanding content, recognizing style, organising ideas, and using convincing language. The sample extracts with guiding questions are really helpful in putting learners in exam context.
