The SOW outline is clear-cut and closely tuned to the AFs... It makes it almost impossible to go wrong with the plan, and still leaves room for flexibility with lower ability learners....
...The detailed lesson plans seem to cover all eventualities, especially with the 'suggestions' at the bottom of each one....
...Really well considered!
This scheme will develop reading, writing and speaking & listening skills through engaging activities while ensuring that students' enjoy reading the novel, develop questioning skills and develop empathy with characters and the era that it is set in.
The resource can be used as a full scheme of work with lesson plans and worksheets. Alternatively, you can pick and choose resources which are appropriate for your lessons.
Also includes film-stills on PowerPoint presentations to use during your lessons.

A simple resource that works hard for progressive results.
This is a great resource. I like the way that each lesson is clearly built on the objectives and Afs. The resource develops questioning and empathy with characters and the era that it is set in.
The resource is focused towards the assessment but still allows opportunities for the students to be creative. It includes all strands of English and allows the students to develop their skills independently and through group/paired work.
This resource is well written and engaging. It would support a teacher wishing to teach War Horse and give them a clear idea about how much time they needed to read and analyse the book. Differentiation was good and activities varied across different AFs. Clearly enhances learning by making an enjoyable and accessible text easy for the teacher to read and analyse with the students, and enables the students to produce work that matches their AFs.
Images from film were helpful.
The additional ideas at the end are excellent.
