What do teachers say about this resource? (4862)
It would provide an excellent one-stop resource for a teacher coming to Northanger Abbey for the first time, and would give a clear structure for a more experienced teacher. It gives the teacher all they would need to take the students through the text. The chapter summaries are clear and comprehensive, and the themes etc taken from each chapter are well identified. This is a writer who knows the text very well. It achieves a good balance between studying the novel generally and the specific focus of the exam on The Gothic.
Really liked it - about to teach this novel for the first time - although I know the text well, this resource directs the study of it very specifically towards the spec and AOs. This resource enhances learning as it includes an exhaustive range of ways to study the novel. It includes salient and relevant context and some excellent links to websites for additional study. It is also very specifically and helpfully focused to teach the novel in reference to texts and genres: The Gothic. This resource is clearly written to match the module - Lit B4: Texts and Genres, focusing on The Gothic. This seems clear as every aspect of it explores how Northanger Abbey does/does not fit with or satirises the genre.
