This is a competent resource in that it gives a solid background in socio-historical context, a good explanatory commentary on the poem itself & some useful questions after each canto. The educational value of a resource such as this will be to allow access to an intimidating/formidable text, a text where modern readers do not have immediate access to the stylistic traits that Pope was parodying. The clear explanations of the narrative journey through the poem will be very helpful for students of all abilities, proving invaluable for weaker students & providing a solid springboard for the most able.
Provides a very detailed commentary, elucidating difficulties of meaning and explaining particularly well the mythological references. I particularly liked the section on epic and mock-epic; I found this very helpful.
