What do teachers say about this resource? (12692)
Very comprehensive set of activities aimed with eagle-eyed accuracy at the OCR specification exploring the position of 1984 alongside the pantheon of great dystopian texts. This was a clear and structured resource that would give teachers a walkthrough set of activities to select to help and support the presentation and teaching of the text.. The educational value of this resource lies in its targeted approach as particular dystopian elements and themes are explored and developed throughout... I particularly liked the range of comparisons to other dystopian texts and the close focus on particular sections of the text. The resource is particularly strong in exploring AO3: exploring the novel as part of the dystopian genre... This means that alongside developing the knowledge of the novel by itself pupils are automatically drawn into the study and consideration of other dystopian texts, which will help them in their unseen element of the OCR A Level paper. The author should be applauded for the range of wider dystopian texts in this resource and the focus on examination practice.
Hugely helpful one when it comes to the understanding of the text. There are excellent and thorough chapter tasks and these support the understanding that students will need to access and discuss the content of the text. The essay questions are good... I liked the range of comprehension tasks and context tasks... The inclusion of a range of extracts was exemplary... The educational value is in comprehension and understanding. There is significant support for middle attainers, especially those encountering the text for the first time. This is the kind of resource that could be used to ensure that students are aware of and capable of developing their understanding of the texts prior to mocks.
