Dracula Activity Pack

for A Level AQA Paper 1: Telling Stories - Imagined Worlds

Easy to use, and tailored to students of all abilities.

With chilling opening chapters, intriguing insight into Victorian culture, dynamic characters, and an iconic villain, Dracula is a seminal piece of Gothic, horror and vampire literature and a fitting text for the ‘Imagined Worlds’ component.

These stimulating activities are designed to support the teaching of Dracula for the 2015 AQA AS and A Level Language and Literature specification. Adapt to your existing scheme of work, or dip in and out, to build student confidence.

Concise introduction to each chapter followed by a carefully considered range of classroom-ready activities:

  • Consolidation questions and active learning tasks target understanding of the text and key literary and linguistic techniques
  • Discussion questions lead to more in-depth, open-ended debate and analysis of each chapter
  • Research tasks encourage students to consider contextual factors such as the ‘New Woman’, Victorian values and strict social norms
  • Exam-style questions provide students with plenty of vital exam practice at both AS and A Level

PLUS! Suggested answers to all activities included – minimal preparation required!

What do teachers say about this resource? (12347)

The pack has much to offer... What really works about this resource is the gradation of complexity in terms of task, allowing students to gain confidence before they tackle an essay question. It allows teachers to dip in and out... The range of types of activity is useful as well, and allows for individual, group, and whole class work... The resource allows students to create a good understanding of the novel by relating back to chapters already studied and so highlighting Stoker's use of patterns and repeated stylistics, for example, descriptions of vampires, and use of moonlight... The essay practice questions are very useful to teachers... A helpful resource, both for students studying the novel, and for teachers planning and delivering the course.
