What do teachers say about this resource? (11985)

Excellent. There was a very good balance between explanation, information and student tasks/activities. The suggestions for teachers in the teacher workbook were invaluable.

This resource is excellent for the student new to the AS English Language A Level as it introduces the thinking and concepts of linguistics. I would definitely [use it] at the beginning of the A Level English Language course.

I love this resource. This provides students and teachers with a structured, supported guide. This is invaluable to Y12 students and to teachers who are new to the A Level... I love the range of activities that the pack offers. I love that it covers EVERYTHING comprehensively and accurately... This resource will allow the teaching of A Level English Language to be enhanced. There is some innovative thinking here and some brilliant activities... Covers the methods of linguistic analysis very well... Congratulations to the author on a fantastic resource!

Useful... Beneficial for students... The different activities paired with each section were useful, and the examples that had been thought up would save teachers a lot of time. The booklet also lends itself as being an independent work booklet – it could be used as additional learning for students in their free periods/homework tasks to reinforce what has been taught in lessons... The resource would help students to do additional work on the elements that they might be struggling with. For example, a lot of my previous Y13 class struggled with active and passive voice, but I feel that the worksheet on this would have really helped them. It could also have been something that we revisited every time they said that they didn’t understand it.

I loved it!... I think that this is pitched at just the right level for GCSE-A Level students. The teacher resources are great and I liked the website resources too... I particularly like the fact that there are video clips ready to use on the website (this saves hours of time trawling the web) but I also think that they are the sort of thing that would engage students - humorous and interesting... I think it's a perfect starting point. I am impressed by the range of resources that include visual, auditory and kinaesthetic activities but also encourage independent learning and thinking.
