An absolutely fantastic resource, that is well thought out and planned to enable student success whilst also enabling teachers to identify misconceptions or common areas of uncertainty regarding specific elements of music for each student and the entire cohort. Each exam mini-mock includes the full range of questions expected in Edexcel GCSE exam... There is a lot to like about this resource, it is really effective for both students and teachers... The ‘Student-Speak’ level descriptors are extremely useful... The breakdown of approach to dictation question answering is also really informative... Having all of the questions presented in the same way as Edexcel exams prepares students for their actual exam and helps students with exam anxiety become accustomed to the types of questions and answers required.... The resource enhances learning by testing students consolidated knowledge in one exam based around a particular set work. This highlights to both the student and the teacher areas of weakness and any misconceptions so going forward they are both aware what areas to focus on and practice to improve their mastery of both the set work and the elements of music as a whole... This resource is a must have for my department.
Clearly laid out and very similar to the exam paper which helps to prepare students for the real exam, questions are worded in a very similar way to the exam papers. The teaching tips are very useful... All very clear and well laid out, easy for pupils to follow... Overall this is a very good resource.

I was really impressed by the scope of this mock. The title of Mini-mocks gives a certain impression, but really what you would be getting as a teacher is so much more than this. The teaching tips alone are incredibly valuable, especially to those new to the spec, as it gives really rigorous analysis of exam techniques through these examples. I was blown away. I loved the tips for ways the resource could be used, and the tips for how to approach specific questions (exam technique) were brilliant. In reading this I felt that I had learned more about how to approach certain question types with students as well as the common pitfalls than I had learned in all the other resources I had looked through. I felt that the author had not only put deep thought into producing a high-quality resource, but was also giving teachers methods in which to fully exploit the resource for the benefit of students... The resource can be used for so much more than just testing students' knowledge, but can be used to teach exam technique as well... Because the mocks centre around the set works, this presents a real opportunity for students to improve their understanding... It is very beneficial to have a similar layout to the Edexcel exam for students, as this takes away some of the anxiety barriers about completing work in an unfamiliar setting with an unfamiliar format... Thank you for the extensive and detailed work that you put into this. It is exactly what I would have done had I been writing the resource myself...and so much more!
A very useful resource.
The range of questions was good.
Presentation was generally excellent.
[This resource] has potential to be highly valuable for pupils in preparation for exams, or a way to evaluate learning after the topic has been covered.
The mark schemes were very detailed and clearly laid out.
This resource would be excellent for teachers who are not confident with the subject matter (e.g. cover teachers/NQTs)
Questions cover a good range of musical elements, and tests pupils wider knowledge of these pieces... It is very clear which tracks are needed and the time of each extract, links are also clear for each piece... Good variety of questions which cover all the musical elements using the terminology used in the exam papers... It helps test pupils to see what they have learnt and retained, it gives pupils experience of answering exam-style questions.

Clearly laid out, set at the right level for GCSE... It includes all the different questions types you would expect on the real GCSE paper and is laid out in a similar way to help prepare pupils for their real exam... A great resource to prepare pupils for their real exam questions, it covers a wide range of topics which they should have covered so it gives the pupil and teacher a good understanding of what has been learnt and what needs to be improved on.
