Publishing Internships: Summer 2017

for Music, Drama, Law, Business, Computing and ICT, Media, RS, PE, H&SC, Maths and DT

Paid Internship of 8–12 weeks between June and September 2017

£7.50 per hour (£8.41 including holiday pay)

This is an opportunity for students or graduates in the above subjects with a passion for education to gain paid experience in Educational Publishing. You will work to support our highly skilled team of editors, proof readers, formatters and external authors/examiners.

What you will achieve:

  • Contribute to material that will help future learners succeed in their qualifications
  • Experience in publishing and education sectors
  • Develop research and planning skills to a specific project brief

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A passion for the subject area that you are applying for (see list above), backed up with an excellent academic record
  • Strong research and analysis skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, and to communicate ideas and knowledge with clarity
  • Ability to write in a creative, yet clear and coherent style
  • An ability to adapt and improve methods of working so that any mistakes identified are not repeated!

Minimum Qualification Level Required

  • 2:1 classification or above in one of the above subject areas (joint honours included) or a 2:1 average in modules studied so far (First Class results highly desirable)
  • Grade A* in A Level or equivalent in your subject area
  • 2 further A-grade A Levels

Additional Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of writing in a professional context, e.g. freelance writing
  • Experience teaching, tutoring or assisting in secondary schools/colleges
