Marketing and Design Assistant

In-house role: one 18-month full-time contract starting Jan/Feb/March 2020 with possibility of further contract(s) for strong performer

£20,000–£25,000 per annum pro–rata (depending on qualifications and experience)

This is an opportunity for a creative marketeer with strong graphic design skills to work for a successful educational publisher.

Our marketing team creates adverts six times a year to send to schools, so a large part of this role will be designing print advertising (including brochures) using InDesign to meet briefs from the editors. The role will also involve other tasks such as email marketing, conducting data analysis and administrative tasks. You should be a creative thinker with a good head for data.

Working under the Production Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out multiple projects for the editorial team while managing your time and deadlines effectively.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of InDesign is essential
  • Strong office IT skills and experience working with Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to work effectively and autonomously with minimal support (training provided)
  • The ability to plan, present and execute ideas in a convincing manner with supporting evidence
  • The ability to act on constructive feedback, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to learn

Minimum Application Qualifications Required

  • A creative portfolio with a variety of different advertising campaigns (a background in print advertising will make your application stand out)
  • Minimum 2 years working within an agency environment / marketing department / on marketing campaigns
  • A degree in Marketing / Graphic Design (2:1 or higher)
  • Minimum two Bs at A Level (or equivalent qualification) in any subject
  • Minimum Bs in English Language and Maths at GCSE (or equivalent qualification)

Applications from candidates with a degree in another subject area who have a minimum of 3 years working within a marketing/advertising environment and a strong portfolio will be considered.

Additional Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Examples of campaigns that demonstrate customer growth / increased sales where your contribution was instrumental
  • Knowledge and desire to stay on top of new marketing trends and strategies
  • Experience of social media management towards a specific goal
  • Basic knowledge of HTML 5 (website management)
  • Track record of strong research and analytical skills
  • 4 years’ experience in a design/marketing role
