This is a well-planned resource based on extensive subject knowledge and wide professional experience. The resource makes the story line of Fundbüro easily accessible for students through comprehension exercises which dissect the characters and the narrative step by step. Discussion questions round off each chapter. I was particularly impressed by the exam guidance. The resource is generous in providing a full model essay for AS and A Levels, good essay plans for a range of possible exam questions and for incorporating the requirements of two exam boards AQA and WJEC. The strategy tips for exam candidates are excellent.
I really liked the variety of exercises from page to page. From match up to T/F questions to translation questions and gap fill exercises. I liked too that this continued through the chapter analysis and on to the character studies. Each one had different exercises attached. The sheer variety is impressive. I also especially liked Henry’s quotations which will help students to learn quotations for use in their essays. Students will learn about the characters and the structure of the novel as well as information about the author and the history of Germany during his life. The Alles Klar pages at the end of each section are very effective and will greatly help students to see where they are with their learning. The section on using this novel for an IRP was a great idea and very helpful for students.
