What do teachers say about this resource? (9203, 9204, 9539, 9540)
I really liked the level of challenge provided by the tasks. The range of information, resources, images, diagrams and varied activity ideas is excellent and I cannot fault the scope of the resource in anyway. If the rest of the series/pack is like this then I would not hesitate to purchase it. As a Head of Department, the ease with which I could set consistently excellent cover lessons in a matter of minutes is great. This resource provides an excellent time-saving opportunity whilst ensuring students are covering the required content in an engaging and varied way. In the absence of a class teacher or subject specialist, for whatever reason, this resource very effectively enhances learning for students. I would be far happier leaving any of these lessons than I would a double-spread in a textbook. The range of activities is diverse and a teacher could easily copy a set of the worksheets for a cover lesson with confidence that students will be engaged and leave the cover lesson having developed their knowledge or consolidated prior learning – a far more effective outcome than most cover lessons!
I really liked the mix of tasks. Matches very well with the specification. A really lovely teaching and learning resource that builds skills and independent learning.
I like that not only it proposes a lot of activities but also uses a lot of geographical skills which students can apply in each task, affording an excellent revision resource for skills learnt in KS3. [The resource] is well balanced in the different tasks and all the case studies are very recent: this makes the resource an excellent source of learning!
Layout and structure was great. Easy access for 'last minute planning' and could also be used as a last minute 'go-to' if you were stuck for something to plan.
This is a useful resource for teachers who have to set occasional cover for GCSE Geography. The pack provides a comprehensive answer sheet that are useful for cover teachers who may not be subject specialists. The resources are of such quality teachers of GCSE Geography may choose to use them in their own lesson. I would certainly recommend this guide for its engaging resources that enables students to have more active cover lesson. It is designed to suit all GCSE exam boards. The resources enable students to be independent of the textbook questions. It also enable teachers to cover GCSE classes with greater ease providing a useful bank of resources.
Promotes independence and analytic thinking [and] this is where we would find the most educational benefit of it.
