There is much about this resource that is really admirable. The sheer volume of pages speaks to the breadth and depth of the analysis. I liked the callout boxes explaining key terms. The first one explaining chords/harmony was especially useful. Detailed description is very helpful and the analysis of the motifs was fascinating. I really like the fact that the practice exam questions have timings at the top... I hate having to work out which bit of the extract to play! The glossary is excellent. The self/peer mark scheme for the essay is hugely useful for students... The detailed history of musical theatre and the incredibly detailed analysis are hugely beneficial to students... The musical analysis and use of musical vocabulary and glossary are incredibly detailed and contain all the information you could possibly want and more! Thank you for the depth of research that went into the writing of this resource. As I was reading, I felt excited to begin studying this work and the wider genre with my students.
A very detailed resource which would give pupils all the knowledge they need for the exam... It gives pupils and in-depth analysis of the piece and the history of the musical, musical theatre and the plot... It matches the specification very well, and provides all the information required for the exam... Very useful resource especially for a teacher who is new to the set work, saves a lot of research time.
The writing is engaging without being patronising and contains a high level of technical language - not dumbing down at all... The analysis is thorough...
