What do teachers say about this resource? (7623)

A really fantastic resource. This is a great tool to help teachers work through the anthology and a variety of tasks for students to engage with in each poem. I have used the brilliant Lit guide referenced throughout for many years so it is particularly pleasing to see so many tasks reference it and make use of it. I like the fact that each poem has its own collection of tasks which can be used and adapted to meet the needs of the learner. A great pack.

Each poem is given a range of tasks for students to complete, including pre-reading and research and relevant context tasks. This is particularly important so that students engage with the context of each poem in a meaningful way rather than using it as a bolt on at the end of a paragraph.

The variety of tasks is wide ranging and because each poem is broken down separately, you are able to dip in and out of the resource when needed.

There are lots of creative tasks which could be stripped back or adapted. Great crosswords as reflection tasks.

The answers at the end are brilliant. These can be used by teachers to guide discussion and feedback and ensure students are given clear answers with minimal amount of work needed.

A superb resource for analysing the poems and working on them one by one. The pack allows for each poem to be dealt with in turn and the range of tasks can be adapted to suit a range of abilities. A thoughtful consideration of the AOs throughout and many tasks can be set as homework tasks to extend student learning.

A lot of the suggested activities and supporting details, combine to make this a very useful companion text... I particularly like the creative activities after each poem. A Level poetry study can sometimes become rather dry, especially when you feel like you have a lot of poems to ‘get through’, and as a teacher, it can be easy to fall into a rut of reading a poem, analysing and contextualising it, and moving on. The creative activities prevent this and remind me, as a teacher, of the fun that can be had when analysing poetry which is really refreshing... It provides a lot of useful information and would complement a student’s study of the anthology... The resource is well matched to the specification... This resource is well devised and informative

Clearly well researched, and the range of activities aimed at students are engaging and explorative in terms of the required assessment objectives for AQA... I liked the systematic approach – going through each poem in chronological order with a similar approach for each poem... Matches the specification well in terms of the way it leads students through the poetry collection... I was pleased to see that the AOs were linked to questions and activities as this is ... valuable in helping students to make the connection between their exploration of the poem/s and their exam... Would provide students with a common route through the poems and to begin to consider the collection of poetry as a whole in relation to the over-arching theme of 'Love through the Ages'.
