What do teachers say about this resource? (7451)
Students can read through the chapters and learn the key narrative events. These events are reiterated in more depth as the chapter continues ensuring the student is never set adrift and left unaware when a new aspect is introduced as it builds on previous events. Judgement of these events is kept to the historical opinions of the figures involved. I enjoy how it allows the reader to form their own opinions. It prompts you with key discussion questions prior to the chapter to ensure that you are questioning the material... After detailed chapter information which builds on itself there is a simple review and revision document for you to fill in as a summary document. This could be filled in immediately after reading and again later as a homework assignment and closer to the examination as a revision tool. The Revision Task is never the same which prevents the assignment from becoming stale... I enjoy the relevant photographs, sources and maps which bring the text to life. It allows for what could be a distant and removed history from another land to have a sense of reality... This resource can enhance learning by having the student become an independent learner... Jack Weatherford’s book now has a nice companion piece in this resource... The chapters meet the specification as they are chronological and precise. They match the specification well. The clear objectives of each chapter is met through the written resource...
This resource is very impressive. It manages to give a general overview of the topic and a detailed outline of events whilst retaining the character of the historical figures in question. If I were teaching this next year, I would buy this resource to compliment or serve as the main textbook... What an enjoyable read!
I liked this resource, especially as there is such a dearth of accessible material on this topic, and it could encourage more schools to take it up.
The resource enhances learning by providing a wealth of pre-digested information, which otherwise could be daunting both to students and teachers.
The educational value is enhanced by having a variety of activities to consolidate understanding like revision tasks, and scene-setting questions as well as useful key terms sections.
The presentation/layout is clear.
It matches the spec well.
