What do teachers say about this resource? (6823)
Very thorough... a writing resource [that] also covers a range of reading tasks, making it doubly useful. Add in the fact that there are also plenty of opportunities for oracy, and you have a winning resource. It's closely focused on the NC and new GCSE specs - terrific...The layout for each task is clear and consistent, so pupils will recognise the stages they are working through - model, preparation, structure, write, then review... The self-evaluation sheets at the end are divided into structure and language, so pupils are aware of both aspects... Plenty of opportunity for pair/group work, for research skills. The vocab and sentence building worksheets are great. The resource stretches the able, while providing structure for the less capable students... I very much like the fact that each worksheet states the lesson's aim. It guides pupils very clearly... gives the pupils chances to look at and practise a range of the writing types that might appear in the KS4 exam... Excellent resource - great framework for pupils to feel they are moving forward.
An engaging and challenging resource. It is an engaging introduction to writing for a variety of purposes. It is aimed at year 7 but could easily be adapted for lower ability KS4 for English Language Paper 2... The self-assessment sheets are easy for pupils to understand, very detailed...[and] very helpful in engaging students in their own progress... I also liked the engaging source materials. There are a variety of engaging activities including script writing, annotation of material and debating... The aims at the top of each activity are useful for signposting the learning points... an easy-to-follow and well-presented resource with a very clear focus on progression... It matches the KS3 curriculum and is a challenging resource.
Very detailed... I particularly like the way in which the radio script, news article etc are annotated. Good style models are hard to find... clearly researched activities linking to real life and echoing the exam board specifications/skills expected. Well linked to national curriculum expectations... Fun, relatable resources that are engaging, include clear success criteria and encourage self-assessment... Planning templates are incredibly helpful and well designed – accessible to all... students can more effectively take ownership of their own 'project'
