Regeneration: Comprehensive Guide for AS/A Level AQA A

Set text for:
  • AQA A A Level

Pat Barker’s gritty historical novel offers a modern perspective on WW1, exploring the conflict through the lens of psychology and mental illness, as well as examining complex themes such as gender and sexuality.

An excellent comprehensive resource

C Webb, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

Ready-to-use, detailed study notes with fantastically clear and comprehensive analysis examine the presentation of real and fictional characters and guide students through Barker’s sparse language, giving students a deep insight into the text.

Engage your students!

Includes debate prompts; active learning tasks; further reading suggestions; key literary and linguistic terms throughout!

Tackles the key stages of text analysis:

  1. Walk-through
Thorough section-by-section commentary walks students through each scene
  2. Drawing it all together
In-depth discussion of whole text focuses on: characterisation, relationships, genre, themes, attitudes and values, language, form, structure, context, literary approaches
  3. Indicative content
To support teaching by making sure all key areas are covered

Plus! A glossary of key terms ensures full understanding

Wish I’d seen this before I started teaching the text this year!

What do teachers say about this resource? (6719)

A thorough and engaging resource. Wish I’d seen this before I started teaching the text this year! Each chapter is summarised, then the key themes/characters are discussed... Followed by a series of discussion points and sometimes a writing task, allowing pupils to engage more personally with the text. The genre convention section is also very useful, as is the section on form/structure and the section on Literary Approaches.

S Owen, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

An excellent comprehensive resource. It was well presented and included some interesting ideas which would provide useful teaching resources. It also successfully addressed the AOs of the new A level specification very well, particularly in terms of Context (AO3) and Literary Response (AO5).
