An engaging and appropriately challenging pack for any KS3 year group... structured in such a way as to support learners in the development of their skills... It is engaging, more so, because it is not ‘dumbed down’... any class would enjoy the intellectual ‘stretch’ in terms of both knowledge and skills... I’ll be watching out for any other resources from this writer - very impressed!
The idea of the resource is brilliant. It is something that students will enjoy and love getting their teeth into, particularly with the current Young Adult fiction market. The resource ideas were really creative and allowed students to understand the different elements of the resource/ creative writing... The tasks were varied and the whole resource was structured well.
A well-crafted resource... I really liked this resource and it is quite comprehensive... The informal tone and address made it instantly accessible.... It is also flexible and could be used in a number of ways as classroom activities, homework and revision activities in preparation for a written assessment at the end of KS3... It has an ongoing project feel to it, which makes it feel like students gain ownership of developing their own skills. It breaks down a difficult area and makes it relatable and manageable while being interesting for students. It takes away the ‘difficulty of writing a story’ element which students tend to fear and shy away from.
The worksheets can be used to give teachers new ideas... A good range of story openings and suggestions to encourage students to attempt to create these styles of dystopian fiction... Higher-ability students would enjoy the examples of the sub-categories and the challenges of writing in that style.
