A Level Edexcel History Research Grids
Route D: Challenges to the state in the late 18th & 19th centuries
A fantastic way to motivate students!Students read their notes to complete a grid of questions in exact specification order. Cross-referenced to ZigZag's Teaching Packs to ensure structured study.
Well presented in a consistent and clear manner
This organised and active learning method helps students identify the key points and build confidence.
Great for students who learn best by doing. Dramatically improves learning for students in need of additional support.
- Requires minimal teacher planning and input – ideal for cover lessons
- An easy-to-set, valuable homework option
- Pinpoints topic strengths and weaknesses for targeted support
Well-structured, stimulating and very comprehensive and provides detailed and informed knowledge of the events and process of Italian Unification
What do teachers say about this resource? (5889)
I was impressed on the whole. It follows the spec very closely and is thorough in its coverage, both as regards the questions and their detailed answers, which I was pleased to see were kept separate.
I particularly liked the helpful teacher’s introduction and that the contents page followed the spec, as did the grids. The cross referencing of pages was also beneficial.
It enhances learning as it has a variety of uses e.g. as a summary, homework, catch-up, cover and for independent learning, e.g. if being home-schooled or tutored on a one-to-one basis. Its educational value is to allow differentiation by outcome and provide confidence to the less able.
It is led by the spec which should give confidence both to the teacher and pupil.
This is one of the better resources I HAVE REVIEWED - IT FULFILLS ITS JOB DESCRIPTION!
What do teachers say about this resource? (5956)
The resource would enhance learning by making students do research rather than just being spoon fed.
Its educational value would also be for revision to consolidate knowledge,if answers handed out and then tested.
Matches the spec well.
The content of the answers is so thorough.
An excellent resource. It is well-structured, stimulating and very comprehensive and provides detailed and informed knowledge of the events and process of Italian Unification. Moreover, it seeks to avoid a mechanistic approach to History by provoking students into assessing for themselves the different interpretations and arguments surrounding a very complex subject... Helpful, clear, concise definitions of key terms... and important but not always well-appreciated figures... It provides material on the subject which is both broad and deep and crucially, as mentioned above, the approach stimulates (and demands) the student to carefully consider his/her own responses to the questions. This will develop analytical skills which are ‘transferable’ to other education subjects and beyond... Matches both the specification and the corresponding Teaching Pack (Ref 7308) and is similarly well presented in a consistent and clear manner... [this resource] would be an excellent purchase... [I] very much enjoyed reading the materials which provide a commendably comprehensive and thoughtful account of the Risorgimento and which encourage further reading and debate. I feel sure that this approach would be highly beneficial to most students.
