This clearly pushes students from AS standard to A2, outlining the AOs and offering inspirational study opportunities. Checkpoints for comparison against Pride and Prejudice are included at appropriate points. The range of activities is wide, from basic introduction tasks to close study of extracts from the text. The imaginative element of the pack is a great way to hook in the more creative and kinaesthetic learners. Spot on. I'd recommend this to any Sixth Form studying the text.
I liked the comparisons with other texts and the combination of project based work and exam practice. The comparisons would be very good to help students to broaden their understanding. The contextual information on the author was very interesting - students would be able to see what had inspired the author. I liked the way that challenging concepts were introduced to students, such as the idea of this text being a 'feminist allegory.
An engaging and carefully structured resource - it sets appropriate foundations before moving on to challenge A Level students appropriately without too much of a gap between expectations in the AS course... I was pleased to see that the challenge increases as student read further into the text.
It's a pretty good resource actually, which would really challenge A Level students, and at the same time does direct them to what they need to know. I would definitely enjoy using it with students. This resource makes high demands on A Level students and would be helpful to support teachers in challenging the top end particularly.
Useful for pupils who wanted an additional text to complete independently... It doesn’t patronise but supports the pupils... The booklet is ready made.
