Impressive!
Overall this is a well thought out resource and planning scheme for this novel. I particularly liked the way that each chapter has been broken down and the variety of tasks suggested. The resources develops pupils discussion skills regarding a difficult and controversial topic. It allows them to explore racism in a safe environment and gain a developed perspective. I like the overall presentation and use of target sheets. It acts as a good stepping stone between ks3 and ks4 it introduces skills that pupils will need for GCSE.
An incredibly detailed and useful resource, particularly for teachers new to the novel but also for setting cover. Everything you needed was there complete with suggested tasks with marking criteria making things very easy.
Not only does it cover the English curriculum but several cross-curricular links as well.
I would definitely use this resource
I felt this resource was good and explored the key themes and issues in depth, in some instances exploring these issues in a modern context. It is an excellent resource for a high ability group and prepares them well for KS4. There are a range of essays/assessments for the students to complete too and structure using PEE. All strands of S&L are covered. Very clear chapter summaries with images to interest/support students. I feel that this is a good resource which will assist the students develop the required skills to progress well in KS4.
