I thought that this was a FABULOUS resource. Lovely Bones is an American text and the only study guides currently available for AS level are American and not really relevant for the current AOs. I really liked the focus on the ELLA2 examination and the representation of speech. This is quite difficult to teach and this resource is easy to understand. Clear focus on the specification. I especially liked the examination questions at the back and the comments on the answers. I wish this resource had been around when I first started teaching this. A great job!
An excellent resource for both teachers & students. It is very thorough & explores every aspect of the text in an accessible yet intellectual way. I like the way that different aspects of different chapters are highlighted, leaving the student to make the connections with other chapters. For ELLA2, it matches perfectly. The exam-style questions and sample answers are superb. I love it. I wish I'd written it!
This resource supports independent study of the novel and provides students with really useful prompts to think about character, theme, setting, genre etc as well as represented speech. The resource is clearly written specifically for the AQA A Lang & Lit specification and addresses its requirements precisely. Comments on the ELLA2 exam practice questions demonstrate the authors familiarity with the specification and inspire confidence in the resource's advice. The bank of practice questions is well thought out and extremely useful.
I liked this resource because it was useful in helping prepare activities for students. Very clearly written with a clear focus on the techniques used by the author and carefully selected relevant quotes.
The chapter analyses were linked to specific Assessment Objectives, which is very helpful to the students... A good way of preparing for the exam... Useful sample questions for our specific exam.
