Holes Activity Pack for KS3

Packed with creative, stimulating activities including quizzes, comprehension tasks, analytical tables and film comparisons, this attractive booklet of worksheets offers fun and exciting tasks for every chapter of the novel Holes.

Each chapter’s activities are presented with appealing fonts and pictures relevant to the novel’s themes, whilst a brief commentary on some of the more difficult tasks is included for teachers who are not so familiar with the novel. An invaluable tool for anyone teaching the novel.

I would purchase this resource without a doubt

What do teachers say about this resource? (3594)

An excellent resource with lots of interesting and stimulating activities for pupils - encouraging them to engage with the text. They are easy to use, photocopiable resources that are self explanatory and if you get the PDF version you can edit it and adapt them for your class.

K McLaughlin, English Teacher & Customer

The resource is outstanding. There are very few areas where I can think of improvement. It explores the text in depth, and has a wealth of activities related to the novel. The most impressive factor is the level to which the APP pedagogy is embedded into the entire scheme. The scheme is particularly effective for the Reading focuses. Pupils will be consistently reminded about how they can progress by closely monitoring their levels within the different reading focuses. The scheme promotes close language analysis, skills that are intrinsic to English at GCSE.

This resource is excellent. The tasks are challenging and engaging. They are also presented in user friendly style that would appeal to all students. This author has produced yet another outstanding resource.

The level descriptor grids are brilliant. The activities are aimed at engaging the students; pupils will love the Facebook status tasks.

'I really liked it as did my students. It matches the changing KS3 very well — APP needs to be in school plans now and this resource really helps in showing them how to do it. I thought the resource was extremely detailed and the tasks that were reproduced for every chapter were clear and concise. I loved the detail of the AFs on the worksheets and that the worksheets were ready to be printed and given to students. I also enjoyed that the author had brought modern day things in such as facebook status' for the characters. It enhanced learning by helping students become familiar witht the AF titles that they need to know and understand. The educational value is excellent as it breaks down the AFs for the teacher and makes them easier to understand.'

C Barker, Teacher and Peer Reviewer

An excellent resource with wide ranging, interesting and challenging tasks which pupils would enjoy. It is very bright and appealing. I think pupils would enjoy working through it. I think teachers would appreciate the references to AF3, AF7, etc. beside each task. I would purchase this resource without a doubt.

I liked the abundance of tasks, as it gives the teacher the freedom to pick and choose. It could even be used with extracts alone in some cases which is great for ready-to-go APP. The APP grids are really a strength of this resource, giving students and teachers clear direction on assessment. Good stuff!
