A great idea. Grammar is always a tricky subject to teach, and this resource presents it in a way which is not only accessible but is fun... I loved the extension activities – I have students who always seem to finish their work in front of everyone else, making these extensions a godsend... I like the way this resource progresses through the different areas of grammar; it orders them strategically so that students are building on prior learning... The activities, and poems, are simple and easy to follow... When students are having fun they are actively engaged – when they are engaged in this way they learn more... The tasks are set out in an accessible way that would be great for photocopying or scanning for an interactive white board.
An amusing/entertaining approach to the teaching of grammar. It focuses on the simple aspects but touches on more difficult concepts such as the different forms of past tense... Easy to navigate through the material and find poems and exercises... each poem focused on one specific aspect of grammar, so the book could be dipped in to in order to address specific needs of a pupil... Gives extra practice for both EAL and monolingual English speakers on how to understand and use basic grammatical features in their own writing. Extension activities allow for differentiation... The fun element will engage pupils' interest.
A refreshing way to look at grammar... A lot of the poems are silly and therefore entertaining. They should hold students' attention and help them to remember grammar rules...
