A truly lovely piece of work. The author has put an incredible amount of care into this. Some of the worksheets and resources included in this pack are examples of outstanding practice... the stimulus material was excellent. It's important to choose articles that are understandable and interesting to pupils when covering this topic. This author has certainly done that!... The questions are nicely varied, encouraging children to practise a wide range of reading skills. Writing tasks are imaginative and inspiring. There are also some useful examples of modelling. These are very helpful in getting children to structure their writing and to write in the correct style... The layout is very clear and attractively presented... Pupils are fully supported in obtaining and practising skills in Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening. These worksheets are so lovely they'd engage even the most lethargic pupils!... An excellent resource with lots of relevant examples that are suited to a wide age range... gives students the chance to do a whole project. Students get to do a lot of background work and will see the finished product at the end – this usually motivates them more... it looks great... Would work well with EAL students as they can follow the examples and instructions very easily... a well-thought-out, useful resource

Very thorough... I liked the way the skills were introduced step by step leading to a sophisticated level of understanding. There are lots of opportunities for focused speaking and listening tasks. The clear structure of the scheme should allow groups of students to work at a pace to suit their skills... provides a solid approach to written media, thus fitting the demands of the KS3 NC.
The topic is relevant, interesting, easy to resource and requires a combination of learning styles... The resource enhances learning through the links with National Curriculum, by involving pupils in using the skills they have learned and by giving opportunities to use peer assessment and support... The resource matches and interprets the specification well.
