I really liked it and think that many students would find these flashcards useful. I really like the idea of categorising different themes and then offering questions or prompts to support students to come up with original ideas... It supports students with ideas so that they can approach the SandL task meaningfully without wasting time with the traditional, "I don't know what I am interested in".... This is a support mechanism not only for students but staff/teachers who are new to the Speaking and Listening exam... My department would make very good use of [this resource]... Well done for having the idea and vision for this, it had never crossed my mind before!
A fantastic and clear resource with really nice use of images... The double-sides cards would be so useful for students... I found it so useful to see the different categories - it’s such a nice way to encourage students to make a selection or choice... I liked the latter section of cards which offered the assistance or the ideas for ways in which students could improve their speaking/speeches... It’s valuable in terms of being non-confrontational, and I think it’s even more valuable that students can take them and work with their ideas... It meets the spec well... It offers students the opportunity to look at their ideas in depth and detail and it suggests their path to developing them eloquently... Extremely valuable.
Very detailed and covers all topics a student needs to think about when planning a speech for assessment... All material in this resource is well thought through and would be an excellent support to students.
The topic generating cards are particularly useful. The succinct summaries of major areas of human endeavor on one side of the card, and specific speech topics within that area on the other are very helpful... Another strength is the organisation of material into cards. Quite often with task cards there seems no real reason why they should be cards, rather than a continuous piece of prose, but here the author employs the task card method adeptly to divide material into manageable, logical chunks... I also like the visual element of the cards... I appreciate the writing style, which is generally clear and uncluttered. The vocabulary level is well pitched to this age group... The cards will be very helpful with GCSE students and those in younger years.
