What do teachers say about this resource? (11327)
[Would you purchase this resource?] Yes, 100%! So much work has been put into this resource and I can see many ways of using it which would have a positive impact on pupils’ confidence and hopefully attainment! Well designed resource for independent use by students with maybe some guidance from a teacher. It provides explanations and practice for a range of tenses needed at GCSE and beyond. This resource will enable students to work independently on getting a sound grasp of the different tenses and moods in French. Good balance of explanation, practice exercises and tips. Student-friendly resource.
I am looking forward to using this resource because it gives a full explanation of all the key grammatical structures that students need to know at GCSE level, making it excellent value for money, which is vital in the current financial climate. I think that this is a very useful resource which gives a complete guidance on all the key tenses and specific grammatical points in French. It is suitable for both Foundation and Higher GCSE French as it gives an explanation of the more ‘simple’ tenses (present, past and future tenses) to the more ‘complex’ tenses and grammatical structures (conditional, pluperfect, subjunctive tenses). I particularly liked the fact that this resource contained a full range of tenses and key grammatical structures that are classed as ‘complex structures’ that enable students to achieve the highest GCSE grades when using them confidently. I also liked the fact that the resource pack starts with a clear explanation of what an infinitive verb is in English as, in my teaching experience, this has shown to be a concept that students do not often grasp in their own language. I believe that students must understand the key grammatical terminology in their own language first for them to be able to make links and manipulate tenses and verbs in a foreign language.
I think it’s a very comprehensive resource for KS4 and also KS5 regarding conjugation, tenses and verbs, which is a difficult area for students who want to learn French. The resource can be given to students as a complement to what has been taught in class or as a preparation document before tackling the topics in class. I feel this resource enhances learning well as a complement to what the teacher explained in the lesson. It can be a valuable tool for homework as the chapters are very comprehensive. It’s impossible to go through all these details in class because of limited time to tackle the curriculum and therefore, if given as a complement/homework, this booklet can help students to have a more in-depth knowledge of the French language. Consequently, this can improve their knowledge of the language.
The resource is really comprehensive, which is appreciated. Some students can be lost when it comes to grammatical terms. It is a good idea to take the time to really explain them right from the beginning. I really like the style. It is written as if a teacher were talking to the reader. There is a spirit of congeniality all through these pages. I particularly like that. The explanations are really clear and straight to the point. Even the students who are not really versed in grammar will be able to use this resource.
