I think it's an excellent resource that bridges the gap between GCSE and the A Level Y1 topics very well. I like how up-to-date it feels (e.g. mentions of the pandemic) which makes the information given more trustworthy. I appreciate that it covers all of the Year 1 topics. Usually "bridging the gap" resources finish after the family forms, so it's good that this recognises that each new topic might need a new passerelle. It has a solid range of activities for the students to complete, at a level I feel is appropriate. It introduces a lot of different ideas that students can use as a jumping off point for further research.
I thought that it was a useful extra resource for the classroom teacher to use with students, as the vocabulary and grammar exercises can easily be used for self study. As practice makes perfect, and classroom teachers are always hunting for more exercises and translations, this would be a useful addition to their resources.

The resource is outstanding. I love the idea that the creator of this booklet has established a well-thought link between the topics from the Edexcel GCSE specification with the ones from the A-level specification and created suitable resources that serve the purpose of bridging the gap between both levels of education. It is also fantastic that the resource was created to benefit as well any students that have studied a different specification. I really like the layout of the booklet: in the introduction it’s said to the teachers that this resource has been created to practise reading and writing (mainly), which creates a clear expectation of what you will be able to access, along with a clear arrangement of each unit, sequenced with vocabulary – grammar – reading – translation – tip. I appreciate the diversity of activities available, which avoids repetition and provides an opportunity of developing different skills, as these range from gapfills to T/F/NM, sorting out words, identifying tenses, rewriting sentences, and lots more.
I love the clear structure of the resource. I find the exercises very useful and the level of language is appropriate for bridging the gap between GCSE and A Level. I think it is a very comprehensive resource split nicely into topics and grammar. I like the fact that pupils can start with GCSE questions and then follow on with A level style questions. We all know that the gap is big between the two. I think it works very well starting with a recap of grammar, gender and family and leading on the more in-depth topic work. I think that there is a definite need for this type of resource which is why I chose to review it. I would certainly like to have something like this for the new Year 12 students to work on over the summer before they start the Year 12 course. It could be introduced in a taster lesson.
