What do teachers say about this resource? (10754)

A highly valuable tool for teaching A Doll’s House. It provides a comprehensive and well-researched overview of the play, which is both informative and engaging. The depth of analysis on cultural significance, themes, and character is impressive, making it a great aid for both teachers and students... I particularly liked the structured approach of this resource, which breaks down each act into easily digestible chunks, making it accessible for students. The detailed analysis of key quotations and themes, along with some interesting activities and debate prompts, are excellent for encouraging critical thinking and engagement... It's comprehensive approach, which includes detailed literary criticism, thematic analysis, and contextual information is very useful for students to recap their understanding of the play and is very useful for new teachers of this text.

D Soltysik, Head of KS4 and Media & Peer Reviewer

Detailed and comprehensive resource. Perceptive analysis of play as a whole – lots to consider and explore. Good use of terminology which students can embed into their critical writing. Nice range of activities at the end of each Act – challenges student to explore a breadth of angles. Answers at end are useful too... Critical reception and linked commentary very useful – interesting to consider how views have changed over time in relation to the issues the play explores... Close focus on individual sections and characters is very useful – choice of tasks gets students thinking. Inclusion of Ibsen’s memorandum about the play and links to themes works really well – good starting points for students... Literary approaches is a particularly well-crafted section for extension. Impressive breadth of texts in the further reading section... Examines the play from a breadth of angles... Useful to look through a breadth of lenses when interpreting character and themes... Logical and systematic breakdown of the text...

N Phillips, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

An incredibly thorough and systematic introduction to the text that gave a detailed walk through of the play and covered the various Assessment Outcomes necessary.

I particularly appreciated the thorough walk-through section. It broke down each particular segment and gave a detailed analysis of the action, relating it to wider themes and concerns. I thought the questions after each of these sections were particularly insightful to help pupils think through the issues raised in more detail.

There were a number of opportunities for pupils to research into various topics in more detail. The various hyperlinks to particular articles allowed in-built differentiation to encourage more able pupils to expand their knowledge without over-burdening pupils who might just need a more basic approach to the text.

The resource met the specification very well - it gave a dedicated section for each particular Assessment Outcome which explored how to incorporate criticism and context and discussed its relevance.

I would be very happy giving this to pupils to support their study of the text and also to develop their own knowledge and understanding.

A godsend for the busy teacher as it contains not only detailed knowledge but also a huge number of different activities that could be used and incorporated into teaching.

Generally sound... Useful critical snippets made relevant and expanded upon... I like the use of prompts for discussion/further reading... The variety of tasks helps to enhance learning... Layout is clear.

This resource is exceptionally detailed and will be very helpful to teachers unfamiliar with the text and students studying the text independently.

Listing the weighting of the different AOs depending on exam board was really useful and very important as exam boards approach texts in different ways.

This could be so helpful for a teacher new to the text, or just very busy and wanting something to dip into, to support students and to suggest some interesting activities. It is also sufficiently self-explanatory to be used as a stand-alone support for students using the text for NEA or for those with limited access to a classroom.

It is a very thorough and worthy resource
