What do teachers say about this resource? (10401)
Writer clearly has excellent knowledge of the period.
Answer sheets are excellent as they can be given to students to peer/self mark and will aid non-specialists.
The support with the religious differences would be particularly helpful for students who find this especially difficult.
Can be done as individuals or in pairs/groups. Many of these tasks are well suited to revision. Answer sheets support learners and teachers.
I liked this resource. I particularly liked the Activity Plan.
Good to have the answers separate.
Its educational value would be to maintain students’ interest in the course by providing a variety of activities.
An excellent resource in that it presents a comprehensive overview of the topic, allows great scope for both individual and group work, but without overwhelming students with too much detail and time-consuming tasks.
I particularly liked the fact that this is a wide-ranging resource, containing a variety of thematic short projects, easily suited to individual or small group learning incorporating both individual knowledge and internet searching practice.
The activities are interesting and varied enough that no one form gets dull. There is a wide variety of learning materials available to the modern A level student, and this resource works as a good guide to finding, using, and evaluating it. Also, I like the use of visual enhancements, like pictures, charts, and illustrations.
This resource enhances learning by taking into consideration what could otherwise be overwhelming in terms of facts, names, and events, and helping students of all grade potentials put these into useful order. It allows students to work within the classroom and establishes cooperative routines. This resource provides context for the many facts and figures the students are confronted with in the learning process.
This resource appears to match the specification very well without being overwhelming in terms of detail. Yes, it expects much of the students and contains detailed background information, but the author clearly has experience of classroom teaching and allows for the natural capacity of student interests. The practice exam question follows the same style as other Edexcel sample papers, which is very helpful, and the crossword puzzle activity is imaginative.
It seems to me this is an excellent resource both in terms of scholarship and value for money.
I cannot imagine a better resource.
What do teachers say about this resource? (10311)
I liked this resource.
Good to have the answers separate.
There is much variety.
The activities in this pack are fairly standard which means that the pack can be a great time saver, especially as the answers are generally included and accurate.
They are the types of activities that students will be accustomed to doing in lessons and don’t required much time to prepare and set up.
The resource is good for knowledge gathering or checking for knowledge.
The resource is handy to use for checks on chronological knowledge, significance, cause and consequence etc which are all very important areas for students to understand if they are to do well in their exams.
Students do need textbooks or internet access for these tasks so they are not standalone activities. This can be a good thing as it can help improve research skills and build a sense of inquiry.
Some of the activities work best as paired or group tasks and it would be easy to develop some of the activities to start building confidence in interpretations or sources by using these instead of a school textbook for knowledge gathering.
The activities match the specification well.
