This is a well-written resource which will provide useful practice for higher attaining learners. There is sound coverage of a range of thematic contexts and students will be able to attempt the papers independently or in class thanks to the inclusion of comprehensive mark schemes. I like the pitch and challenge and the inclusion of ‘red herrings’ as distinguishing between unnecessary and necessary information is very much a part of higher GCSE. It’s also good to see vocabulary based questions ie – what is the correct definition of….? included.

This is a comprehensive resource covering all six themes for both Foundation and Higher tiers of the Edexcel course. I liked the detailed instructions to Teachers at the start on how the speaking paper is marked and what the candidates need to do in order to gain marks. This is after all a brand new exam and teachers need to know how to get the best out of their pupils which is helped by having three sets of all the questions for both tiers.
Lots of great exercises for students to gain confidence tackling the new layout and tasks for the Speaking GCSE Spanish exam. I like the pictures and the fact that they have quite a few details to focus on. I also like how it follows closely the layout and specifications for the new Speaking Edexcel exams, especially in this first year of the exam series this is going to be very important for many teachers to avoid confusion. I like the way the resource is structured too, with gradual levels of difficulty, starting from easy foundation to challenging higher tier level.
This is a quality piece of work which will be useful to time-poor teachers especially given the lack of other published materials at the moment.
The picture discussion photos are well chosen and will enable students to engage with the themes with little difficulty, no undue distractions.
The language and contexts used comply with the new GCSE Edexcel so could be used for in-class practice or homework.

The questions are well-matched to the expected level and give high-achieving students a chance to demonstrate their knowledge. A well-researched and useful resource which will provide relevant additional practice for foundation tier candidates. The questions set are appropriately pitched for this level and accessible to students in a user-friendly format. I like the fact suggested answers are given.
There is good coverage of thematic areas with largely real-world situations with no attempt to hoodwink students or put them off by including obscure questions.
