Practice Papers for GCSE AQA German
2024 specifications: exams from 2026
Comprehensive exam practice for the New 2024 specification style exams. For each tier, there are three full practice papers, mirroring AQA Sample Assessment Materials.
The three papers cover the foundation reading paper brief very well.
All practice papers meet the requirements of the 2024 specifications and are followed by mark schemes based on those used by the exam board.
Ideal for teachers of the new GCSE German specification
- Every specification topic is included, ensuring that students are familiar with questions on a wide range of issues
- Interesting and up-to-date topics to stimulate students and encourage them to engage with the material
- All activity types are covered – students will be completely familiar with the exam format
- Fully matched to the 2024 vocabulary and grammar lists
What do teachers say about this resource? (12886)
I think it's an effective and useful resource for both teachers and pupils. The grids at the start are useful not only for self/peer assessment but also for teachers to use in their planning when scaffolding the different tasks of the new GCSE writing paper. It's also a much needed resource, given the lack of specimen and past paper materials which most teachers need to save for mock exams!
I particularly like the self/peer assessment grids as they can be useful in raising metacognition and ensuring that pupils actively respond to feedback. With a focus on high quality feedback, model answers are useful for both teachers and pupils and can be given to pupils on completion of the tasks, or analysed in class - I feel pupils really benefit from picking apart model answers and this instils clear knowledge of what they need to do in the task.
I think this resource matches and interprets the specification perfectly - the exam style element matches the materials available from AQA exactly and the self/peer assessment element clearly aligns with the expectations of higher tier.
What do teachers say about this resource? (12795)
I found this to be an excellent resource, ideal for teachers of the new GCSE German specification.
The strengths of this resource are its clarity and ease of use. The instructions and mark schemes are very clear, meaning that it can be picked up and used straight away by both teachers and also pupils in independent learning/review.
I particularly liked the question that elicits meaning of an unfamiliar word (e.g. Tatsachen) as this is a new question style and there are fewer readily available resources in this style, even in the new textbooks.
The three papers cover the foundation reading paper brief very well. The German is clear and accessible but also provides challenge. The texts are interesting to read and grapple with.
I love how the exercises reflect well the questioning (with instructions in English) , level of difficulty and type of exercises as per the new SAMS. I like the content and the language used in many of the texts.
I liked it - it is a useful resource that teachers could use to assist with in-class assessments, particularly in the early days of the new GCSE specification whilst past papers are not readily available, or for end of year revision, again most likely within lessons.
What do teachers say about this resource? (12887)
Lots I liked - Multiple sets for Foundation and Higher tiers, ideas on how to use the resource, guidance/reminders on the new exam and mark scheme, teacher prompts in the target language included in the teacher version. I think this exam skill is the biggest change teachers need to get their heads around (as we conduct the exams) so this felt like a well thought out tool to assist with planning and preparing both students and teachers for it.
What do teachers say about this resource? (12885)
The papers mirror the new AQA exam in terms of vocabulary, grammar and question types... There are also sample answers and guidance on marking for teachers, all very helpful to the busy classroom teacher.
There are suggestions for self- and peer assessment in the form of grids which could be very effectively exploited in a whole class setting.
What do teachers say about this resource? (12884)
It is very useful and has lots of good texts in it.
It replicates the exam and covers the topics studied and tested. This means, it prepares students for the Higher Reading exam
What do teachers say about this resource? (12797)
Allows students to do further listening practice, especially in the early days of the new curriculum when there are fewer resources and past papers available. Transcript alongside allows for detailed analysis of vocabulary and exam style texts.
