What do teachers say about this resource? (11151)
It’s a very helpful resource in terms of giving students authentic practice at the Paper 1: Cognition and Behaviour exam. The tasks are clear, accurate, and the answer key is detailed enough that even new teachers and students themselves could self- and peer-assess. I particularly like how it reflects the actual exam tasks. The fact that there is a well-explained answer key makes it very valuable for first-year teachers in helping them feel more confident about the responses. The scenarios that are given reflect the question types on the exam. I like the fact the scenarios reflect a multicultural population (as the UK is). I think the way this is authentically-presented just like the exams makes it very easy for students and teachers to see where areas of need might be. I could see myself using these as actual tests but also as discussion tasks at the start of a topic. I feel the questions could also be used as starters or plenaries so there are multiple ways to make use of it (pre-test, post-test, homework, starters, discussion etc.).
The fact there are 3 practice tests means there are enough for exam practice at the end of semesters (for example). Added to the samples provided by AQA, this resource really adds to the bank of questions teachers can pull from. The questions reflect the content of the GCSE specification and provide authentic practice. These are exactly the types of questions students will encounter on the actual exams. I think teachers will really appreciate this addition to their exam question bank.
I thought it would be very useful - there is something there for students of all different levels of ability and the practice papers reflect very well the demands which will be made of them in the final GCSE examination. The mark schemes were written in a really student-friendly way, so that they will be able to understand their mistakes and how to improve, should the resources not be used in a classroom situation. If they are used as mock exams, the mark schemes will help the teacher but also will be something which can be given out for students for further use at home. They are excellent papers, which could be used at different points during the final year of the course to monitor student progress. As a teacher, I would find them very useful indeed - and I'm sure that my students would, too. The question types and the mark schemes reflect very accurately just what is on the Specification, making this resource very valuable for anyone studying or teaching this course.
Overall, this is a useful resource and contains a nice variety of questions. I am sure this will be a very useful resource for teachers and students given the lack of past papers for this specification. In general the question are clear and the mark allocations appropriate. The mark schemes are also clear and helpful. Very useful exam practice.
What do teachers say about this resource? (11152)
A good resource with a wide variety of exam-style questions like the exam would be. Clear questions and clear mark schemes to follow. A good range of each topic is covered per exam paper. The range of all assessment criteria used as well as research methods questions embedded throughout the topics. It could be used as part of revision lessons with students or as homework activities to be marked as a class. The resource as a whole is great! It is really nice to get some additional exam questions with mark schemes to be able to support students in preparation for their exams. Really good resource to help support students with the paper 2 content as there are so few past papers to go over with students.
This is a very useful set of practice papers and mark schemes, especially as there are limited ones available from the board. These papers cover the specification content well and appear very similar to questions that could be set by the board. Range of questions and clarity of mark schemes... could be used in a variety of ways, in class / at home. Markschemes are clear enough to be used by students.
