What do teachers say about this resource? (12028)

An attractive and eye catching resource which can be used by higher and lower level learners. Good use of pictures and symbols... the layout is great and allows learners to make links, for example on page 4 there are links between income and good health. There is a lot of attention paid to environmental factors, which can be neglected in some resources. Each page has detail which will help the learner retain their interest... the resource will draw in the learners as it is modern and interesting. The presentation of the pages allows the learner to make connections and see relationships to permit access to higher grades. For example the way that the topic of alcohol is dealt with on page 2... there is a clear explanation, links to the effect of excess alcohol, why people drink and what is unhealthy drinking. This will be a great resource for learners either doing revision, projects, or as inspiration to make their own posters or infographics. The layout is perfectly judged for the age of the learners, it is striking and uses pictures well. I love the use of mind maps. The resource may support with revision and knowledge acquisition and lends itself to active recall. This links very well to the specification and makes the material accessible. Often teachers look to resources to allow us to better understand what the awarding body actually requires and this is very useful. This is very much geared towards the learners and will be extremely valuable as a resource

Overall, I found this resource to be very informative and to a high standard. All information was appropriate and relevant to the qualification specification. As well as this, the format layout was clear with the use of mind maps, and the information was in a logical order in bite-sized chunks. This resource is particularly engaging to visual learners. I liked the clear format and layout; the information flowed nicely throughout the resources and had all the relevant information that is needed as part of the qualification specification. Use of colour and images [PDF+Word] are used throughout to make it more eye-catching without taking up too much space and away from the information itself. As well as this, although activities are only partially completed, I liked how there were lower and higher ability versions to better meet learner needs. I think that this resource enhances learning and can meet a wide range of individual learning needs visually, however learners with learning styles such as physical or verbal may use this resource as a starting point. For example, learners who have verbal learning styles may repeat information out loud or use a text speaker. This resource is personalised to this qualification and meets the target audience and purpose. Information is set out in the form of a mind map and has little boxes throughout with further information such as statistics which enhances learning and is engaging. I think that this resource matches and interprets the qualification specification well and covers module topics well as a revision tool. Useful revision tool and would also recommend it to other Teachers/Tutors. I would hand this out to my learners at the end of each module topic for revision and further reading and recap knowledge.

What do teachers say about this resource? (12131)

A concise, but comprehensive resource that covers the majority of the content necessary for students to complete Component 1 PSAs. This will be extremely useful for students to revise, prepare and create notes from. Structure is clear and key terms are highlighted/stand out which will help higher ability learners to access higher mark bands. The resource provide a visual method of developing, organising and summarising students learning. They will help students to structure disjointed information and see the overall picture. They will facilitate the learning process by providing a scaffold for the development of points needed for PSAs. The layout works, they are busy pages but this is necessary for graphic organisers. The coloured highlighting will be especially useful for students to help develop subject language and literacy. Each page varies in layout to prevent students becoming bored and topics of each page are very clear. The resource works with the new level 2 specification for Component 1. It provides an overview of each section.

A concise resource which links well to the criteria. It is presented well and is suitable for neurodiverse learners and is attractive and accessible. The "neglected" topics, such as coping with the effects of life events and factors affecting growth and development can be difficult for learners to grasp, and they are dealt with well here. I particularly like the way the more difficult aspects for the students are presented. The factors affecting growth and development is a section which is sometimes difficult for students to grasp, but the detail in the resource enables comprehension and context. The resource is accessible and will allow learners to engage with the material. Whilst there is no exam for this unit, supporting students to use a range of resources to prepare for their assessments can be difficult, this will enhance the work of both lower-level students and those looking to higher grades. Overall, the layout enhances the educational value of the material, I also feel that it will give learners ideas for making their own posters. This is great as it follows the specification well, and in the order if would be taught. I have seen some resources published in conjunction with the awarding body which are "all over the place". The key words and phrases from the specification are used in the resource which will aid the learners' grades. I like this resource, the content and layout are good and not cluttered, as a dyslexia and neurodiversity specialist I am really keen on promoting accessible resources this is great. A very good, accessible resource which is perfectly aimed at the target audience.
