What do teachers say about this resource? (12167)
I was pleased to see a resource for this new component. It provides a range of case studies that bring the topic to life for students and it gives the teacher a wider breadth of knowledge and understanding of the work of key practitioners. There are a range of activities that will help me to think about how to approach the component. There is a lot of content in the specification and I want to avoid it becoming repetitive for students. Using the case studies and activities in this resource will help with that. Having real-life case studies makes the component more realistic for students and shows them clearly how to apply their learning to real-life situations. This is what the component is all about so it sets them up well to achieve in their PSA. I thought it is clearly presented, with a section per page This makes it easier to use in lessons. I like the clear pictures and the inclusive nature of them. I think it matches the specification well and it provides case studies that incorporate a number of illnesses and conditions. It saves time and also gives me information that I would not necessarily have such as more in-depth roles of practitioners.
Various interactive resources available to use for students to consolidate their learning for Component 2. Case study activities will be extremely useful in preparing students for PSAs. Answers and instructions provided will help in minimising teacher workload. PSA preparation is heavily focused on note taking and lessons can seem repetitive. These activities will help to engage the students and build their knowledge and understanding through interactive activities. The activities are great... This will help in keeping low ability students engaged in activities and therefore learning. It will also bring the fun back to the subject, motivating students to try hard and ultimately enhancing their learning. Case study activities will improve application skills and are in line with the form of assessment for Component 2. Presentation and layout is clear, avoids cognitive overload, but still includes images when necessary. The resource covers key aspects of the specification and activity instructions identify which areas of the specification they work with. The key vocabulary included reflects the language used by Pearson.
