This resource will provide a good opportunity to develop practical and analytical skills for the exam specification. It is beneficial because it gives learners a chance to explore the Haydn symphony and also the wider context. A worthwhile resource to have as a revision tool for learners but also as a teaching aid and starting point within the classroom. Tasks could be used as homework activities but also as activities within the classroom. Exam-style questions provide invaluable practice and will help to develop exam technique well.
Detailed and accurate and focused on the exam content... The overview of context that moves through Haydn/Mozart/Beethoven is strong, and is a concise and accurate discussion of the development of the symphony... The analysis is well pitched, and whilst is very detailed, is not overwhelming for a candidate to read through for revision and with a score in front of them... The language used in this resource is really appropriate for this level of course, and really helps the student to cement their understanding of complex concepts... The glossary is a strength and provides a good overview, and the 'movement-per-page' overviews are a useful memory aid for candidates.
