What do teachers say about this resource? (9384, 9385, 9386)
I think this is an excellent resource that provides many practise questions for the topic. I like how the questions increase in difficulty and that the answers are fully worked.
It is clearly meant to supplement teaching, as it only has summary information at the start of each section and then moves onto examples. The examples are set out well with the questions on the side and the working along side them. The examples increase in difficulty before the ‘ramped’ questions, which have a nice relevant theme to them of ‘setting off’, ‘speeding up’ and ‘top speed’.
I like:
- the appendix with the GCSE review and pop quiz. This would be very useful at the start of the topic or to set as home work.
- the short/summary introduction to each topic area and then the well laid out examples. The examples are interesting and they increase in difficulty.
- the ‘ramped’ question style to build confidence as students work their ways through them.
- how full answers are included, which could be shared with students.
- the presentation and layout of this resource. I like the ‘unfussy’ approach of key information and then straight into examples and questions. These are not meant to serve as topic notes-just a recap and then practise questions.
This is a highly comprehensive pack which covers every area in mechanics as well as further mechanics. This is a great resource to support students as they move through these topics. Each section is broken down nicely and follows a familiar pattern, of theory, examples and practice questions, with the answers being included at the back. It’s very easy to follow.
I like the worked examples which have comprehensive working out step by step, this saves time and is helpful for students.
Students can use this as a revision guide, alongside their usual notes and resources. This is particularly helpful for periods of independent learning or revision. Students can self-assess their performance and then take time to work through the section of this booklet that relates to this topic. The comprehensive examples will help to build confidence and there is a substantial amount of practice questions. The theory is broken down into simple steps making it easier to understand and easy to transfer over to flashcards.
What do teachers say about this resource? (8099, 8100, 8101)
Gives confidence to shaky students!
This is a great resource to support the teaching of electricity at A level. Each topic has background information and key terms explained as straight forward as possible which will be a benefit to many students as electricity is a topic which can easily become overwhelming.
As a teacher, it will save me time by not having to go through each example on the board, I can offer more individualised support to students where necessary.
I think the resource is well-structured and has a logical progression throughout. I like the summary from GCSE Physics and this would serve well for students to work through before starting the topic in class. I like the ‘Pop Quiz’ at the end of the GCSE Refresh section.
I like that it links all of the ‘electricity-based’ topics together, so that teachers/students can see the progression from Electricity in Year 1/AS to Capacitance and Electromagnetism in Year 2.
The physics language is precise and matches the specification.
I like the way examples are laid out with the question on the side and working next to it.
I like the ‘ramped’ questions increasing in difficulty. The ‘Shocking!’ questions are quite challenging and suitable for stretch activities. I like these for challenging the higher ability students - I like the contexts that are included in these too.
