The Pardoner's Prologue and Tale Activity Pack for A Level

Without a doubt the best resource I have seen in a very long time. A Baiden, English Teacher & Independent Reviewer

Activities arranged in three sections to facilitate independent and small group study of The Pardoner’s Prologue and Tale as part of the AQA B English Literature specification, although it could easily be used as part of any open specification requirement. Importantly, brief notes and answers are given to support independent learning and stretch the activities for more able students.

  1. In Section One students are introduced to the context in which The Canterbury Tales is written, Chaucer’s verse, the character of the Pardoner and the gothic genre.
  2. In Section Two comes a closer look at the text, section by section, from the beginning of The Pardoner’s Prologue to the words of the Host at the end of The Pardoner’s Tale.
  3. The final part, Section Three, concentrates specifically on the AQA B exam board’s requirements and the assessment objectives, examining how to achieve the best grade in the exam essay.
Activities vary to suit a range of abilities and learning styles: poster design, close reading, presentations, independent interpretations, group discussions, question and answers, text annotations and many more!
