What do teachers say about this resource? (4612)

A 1st class resource.... This resource is superb, simple as that... The way in which it has been presented is excellent and it is written in a very accessible style for all students. The assessment tasks are very good and throughout the resource there is good consistency between tasks. There is a good emphasis on source analysis and it seems to prepare students for Controlled Assessment Coursework. The teachers' notes are very concise and explain exactly what the teacher can expect from each task and what the purpose of each task is. There is nothing about this resource that I dislike and that is saying something. The author deserves plaudits for the way in which it has been written (The comments apply to all 6 topics included as all the topics are written in a very similar manner).... This resource greatly enhances learning as it provides very challenging assessment opportunities in the style of Controlled Assessment. If pupils are thinking of taking History at GCSE level they should be ready to undertake tasks of a similar nature to not only prepare themselves but to allow the teachers to push their abilities as far as they can go. The educational value is almost priceless, you are preparing pupils for GCSE essentially from Year 7 onwards and this can only be a good thing! Each task builds up knowledge and then builds upon existing knowledge to enable the pupils to effectively tackle the assessment questions it is very well planned.... On the whole the layout is excellent. It is well thought out and designed. There is an appropriate balance between text and photo and nothing appears to be out of place it has been well organised.... Everything thing in the resource has its place and it generally looks very neat and professional - I simply cannot fault the layout at all.... There would be no hesitation on my part to purchase this resource for my teaching.

Extremely detailed, each assessment unit builds up to the assessment task with lots of explanation and reference to Assessment for Learning- the explanation of the relevant levels and then the peer and personal assessment section. Source material particularly on the French Revolution is really interesting and would make students interested. Provides a focused build up to the assessment tasks. It covers an excellent mix of British and international history and the key skills and processes as set out by the current KS3 History Curriculum. It would be excellent for non-specialist history teachers who would not have the ability to prepare for an assessment.

I thought that this resource provided good information, that was concise whilst also offering direct advice on achieving the levels.... I liked the self and peer assessment sheets, as they made the assessment for learning process very clear.... I think that this resource provides a comprehensive set of activities that give information and assessment in one package.... I think that the resource is ideal at Key Stage Three level for the topics that it covers.
