What do teachers say about this resource? (2276, 4245)
Can be used by a non-PE teacher to teach this element of the curriculum.
I liked the fact that it was self-contained and included additional problem solving tasks not just the orienteering. It was this extension work that I found potentially the most useful and could certainly see it fitting into Geography, PHSE and PE... I would see it generally working well in both Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
The grid method allows for the students to experience and gain an understanding of working with a map without having to negotiate around a school or external site map. By keeping the children in a more confined space means that feedback is fairly instant to any errors they may have made and instantly correctable.
