A good document to have in the department... Very concise and particularly helpful , not just for pupils with Downs Syndrome: the advice set out includes all pupils with the named disabilities, e.g. hearing problems, speech clarity, etc.

An excellent overview and guide - very learner centred strategies which encourage pre and ongoing planning for individuals transitions. Clear and jargon free - easy to access and utilise. Although I am experienced in working with learners with Down's Syndrome - reviewing this guide has prompted me to review my own "best practice" Thank you!

I think this is an excellent resource – in fact I think it could have relevance to a whole range of learning difficulties/differences in terms of transition and mainstream education. I felt that this was a resource produced by people who really knew what they were talking about and which synthesised a lot of useful information into one user-friendly book. It is appropriate for use both by SENCOs to provide twilight training in school and for interested form/class teachers wishing to make their lessons/classrooms more inclusive. The emphasis on working with parents/carers was also very good – an area it is easy for busy teachers to overlook, especially regarding anxiety of parents/carers etc.

A Roper, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

A useful resource and certainly one that any mainstream school, which has a Down’s syndrome child transferring to it, would benefit from using.

J Robinson, SENCO & Customer

This resource provides thorough information/guidance about a pupil with Down Syndrome together with useful strategies that can be applied.

M Anthony, SEN Coordinator & Peer Reviewer

Comprehensive introduction for staff unfamiliar with dealing with Downs Syndrome pupils.

S SIddall, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

Very thorough... There were many ideas for new activities and ways of presenting information to the child.
