What do teachers say about this resource? (3972)
I liked a lot of things: the range of vocabulary, the guidance on pitfalls, the opportunities to manipulate grammar, and the examples given. I really feel that the resource would be fabulous preparation for exams. The grammar and specifically the links to 'distractors' and words which change meaning was great.
I think it’s a really good resource which targets students who are struggling to gain a grade 4/5. It’s very well written and I like the way the mark scheme often explains why a particular answer is correct and why the other options don’t work. Having a list of seven areas to address to improve their chances should be relatively easy to ‘sell’ to students, I would say. I think the author has successfully identified areas which are relatively ‘quick fix’ but at the same time can impact significantly on final grades. I believe this resource provides concrete advice and steps which students can apply to improve their chances of GCSE success. The varied question types in this resource are a very accurate reflection of the tasks AQA foundation students are required to do (work with time frames, interpreting opinions, matching newspaper headlines, saying who….?, multiple choice, translation). The texts are accurate, concise and easy to engage with.
