Very detailed and covers concepts such as syncopation, cross rhythms, rhythmic notation which is a great precursor to GCSE Music... Includes practical and theoretical elements which are realistic to GCSE Music. It's great that it includes use of the percussion instruments and the various ways they can be played e.g. Bass, Slap etc. I liked how it included performance, composition and listening elements. It also included contextual information e.g. African culture and importance of music in African society. This resource is a great balance of practical and theoretical. The homework tasks are relevant and enhance the learning from the classroom. This resource encourages collaborative work and ensemble playing which is not only essential to music but has a lot of educational value as it requires students to improve team working skills, communication and confidence. I like the assessment planning sheet especially as it includes drum techniques such as Bass, Slap and High Low... The structure section of the assessment sheet is helpful too as it gives the students scaffolding and helps with their planning of their performance.
An amazing resource. There is so much detail and depth here, there is very little to fault in terms of what students will learn, the sequence of learning and how informative it is. This resource is so adaptable and contains both visual, auditory, practical and engaging material for all learners. A great experience for Year 7 students. Musical knowledge and how to pitch material for Year 7, while adapting for Year 8 is clearly evident... The lesson plans contain very clear sequences of learning, helpful instructions and a framework for progress. It is clear to see how students are exponentially getting better at music through making and understanding music... Brilliant amounts of detail in the lesson plans, with helpful references to the slides, audio tracks and other resources.
