What do teachers say about this resource? (12534)
This is an excellent resource which fills the need for a detailed stylistic analysis of the text to complement the version in the anthology. Its notes are detailed yet written in a style that is intelligible to the GCSE student. The running vocabulary is particularly useful as well as the numbered guide to assist weaker students with the initial translating of the set text. Likewise, the examination questions at the end of the resource are well-matched to the OCR style of questions and would make a very useful mock exam, something which is appreciated when it is the first appearance of a new set text and there are no past papers to draw upon. The resource exactly fits the requirements of the specification in terms of the studying of the verse set text. The translation is faithful while not being so literal so as to obliterate the essence of it, yet with the literal meaning explained within the notes so that the students get the best of both worlds. The analysis is excellent with something to say on virtually every line.
Overall, what did you think about this resource?
Clear and helpful.
I am a teacher of Classics in the Greek Educational system and that is my first time teaching GCSE (to my daughter), so it helped me know what the most common things are that a student should know/ the style of the questions etc.
It is easily read and helpful. It matches well. It is GCSE Classical Greek Verse Literature Medea.
