This resource is well thought out and the sequencing makes a lot of sense. It will be extremely useful especially over the next few years while past papers and practice material for the new specification is not readily available. I particularly like that the resource focuses on the correct pronunciation issues. Everything my students have struggled to pronounce over the years is explained and practised very well. This resource will be extremely valuable in preparing students and teachers for the new oral exam. I find the structure and the inclusion of vocab lists especially useful as this is such a big part of the new specification. The resource can be used both in lessons to practice with the whole class or for homework. It will enable students to meaningfully practise their pronunciation throughout the course and not just when it comes to exam preparation. I feel the resource matches the new specification extremely well. It clearly sets out and explains the new oral exam and the vocabulary lists are especially helpful when getting to grips with the slightly new format.

The resource does not only develop students’ reading aloud skills, but also develops vocabulary and provides exercises for consolidation. It raises awareness of the logistics and routines of the speaking exam and practices topic-based conversation in the format of the AQA exam.

It gives students plenty of opportunities to practice their speaking exam and also to gain an insight into how to perform better thanks to many useful tips. I like the instructions given in the Conversation Skill Building exercise or the Conversation Exam style questions, as they are quite informative and at the same time motivating as it encourages students to think that the more they practise, the easier the exercises will become. I like the tips for the exams given throughout the resource. I like too that there are many cultural references relevant to the GCSE topics.
This resource has a good range of activities for all the components of the speaking part of the exam . The mark scheme is well explained with good examples of possible mistakes. The conversation building tasks are a good idea and it gives the students encouragement and allows them to build on better answers slowly. The tasks go from easy to difficult so there is logical progression of learning.

In my opinion it’s a very well thought of resource. It has lots of very good content to enable both teacher and student to develop the skill of reading aloud and ensuing conversation. It allows for building up vocabulary at foundation and higher tier level, and the texts are very relevant to the GCSE content, in line with the AQA prescribed vocabulary. The resource can be used by the teacher in the classroom as part of their lesson; the students can work independently with the resource at home.
