What do teachers say about this resource? (12190)
Plenty of video and listening activities for students to be able to see and hear the different instruments and make comparisons... A variety of tasks covering performance and composition... Learning aims are stated clearly... It covers all of the instruments families clearly... Encourages students to listen and identify instruments and emotions of a piece of music... I think this resource is good to begin to explore the different instruments and their place in the orchestra... The homework links to the lessons and helps to consolidate learning.
It's a really good introduction to the orchestra, a topic that is often taught in Year 7. Really comprehensive overview of the orchestra for students. Listening, videos, practical tasks - the mixture of things makes it an interesting and engaging topic - it can be quite dry.
Good videos used and the suggested practical tasks make it engaging and are a little bit different.
Introduces students to the instruments of the orchestra in a fun and engaging way. This topic can often be very 'teacher talk' focused with lots of written work so the videos and practical activities give it a different feel.
Tasks are interesting... Fun, creative starters.
