What do teachers say about this resource? (11701)

Brilliant, really useful. I like the fact that the topics are grouped mirroring the syllabus themes so it is very well structured in that respect. This resource provides a wealth of facts that students could pull out and learn to demonstrate knowledge in their exams, it will save teachers hours of reading and research, it is an excellent support for revision as well as practice. The fact that this resource explores both the Spanish and Latino context is very helpful and provides great depth of detail to suit all exam boards’ needs. It allows the student to explore and consolidate vocabulary, conjugate verbs in a range or tense and practice translation skills into both English and Spanish, as well as practising summary writing. There is a good balance of closed questions and open ended questions to allow students to research and produce their own answers, which encourages a creative approach to productive skills. The listening comprehension activities based on videos are most helpful for students to practice their listening skills and hone in exam technique. The fact that summary model answers are included is most helpful as students can directly compare their responses and see what a good answer would look like.

The Patrimonio Cultural topic is the one that students struggle with the most as there is so much information across so many different areas, so any resources on this topic are always gratefully received. The resource is relevant to the current A level specification, I currently teach the AQA specification and this fits very well. The structure of each unit is well scaffolded allowing all students to access the resource independently but also provides enough challenge that if the resources is being used in lessons then your more able students would be stretched with the later activities.
The information in the texts is detailed and relevant to the specification. In addition I feel that a lot of the information would also be useful for students to consider for use in either the photocard section of paper 3 or where relevant for use in their IRP.

Overall I think that the resource is a great resource with a wide range of activities, such as listening, reading, grammar and writing activities in which often high level language very appropiate for A level is used. I like that the resource shows a wide variety of cultural aspects of Hispanic life that is sometimes overlooked even by the official textbooks.

What do teachers say about this resource? (11606)

I thought that the topics made a very useful and well thought out resource for the classroom teacher to use with his/her students in order for them to acquire an in depth, up to date knowledge. The organised progression from vocabulary activity to speaking. All the skills are tested and by the end of the topic, the student should have excellent knowledge of the topic, provided in an attractive way. The 4 skills are tested with interesting up to date material. The variety of materials to be obtained from sources familiar to students such as YouTube and the Internet is to be praised. This resource is of an excellent standard. The content would meet my demanding requirements perfectly.

I enjoyed reviewing this resource as the cultural information included in it was fascinating! In every topic there was something I didn’t know and this will make this resource enjoyable for teachers to use as well as pupils. I like the way that lots is packed into each section – it feels as if there is going to be value for money here. I love the amount and variety of cultural information – the author has really put a lot of work into this. The mix of material (written articles + videos for listening practice) ensure that all skills are covered in a way which is appealing to pupils, thus motivating them further. It’s good that examples from all topics are drawn from the francophone world, not just France. It gets straight to business, guiding pupils to building up words needed for subsequent tasks. Activities are designed to help pupils to understand and write their own texts on the subject content as well as provide them with some much-needed cultural knowledge – a vital part of the speaking card section of the A level oral. The level of language in the texts is high but made accessible with clever tasks, so pupils are being exposed to good quality French with a nice style. They are also encouraged to use and adapt the same language for themselves. I really like the wide range of idioms and expressions included in the resource.
