What do teachers say about this resource? (11168)
Overall, this is a very comprehensive resource and is thoughtfully structured. It's covers a wide range of festivals across the German-speaking calendar year and I like the variety of tasks. It feels well-researched and clearly designed for both classroom use and independent learning. I like that it covers a topic from the AQA specification, so students have lots of examples here, but it also develops their comprehension skills. I like the use of first-person narrative texts which makes it feel more accessible for students. This is also strengthened by the vocabulary lists which sets the resource up to be a good way of encouraging independent learning.
On the whole it is a useful resource for students to gain an insight into different types of festivals and traditions in German speaking countries. It is written in an accessible way for students studying German in year 12 and provides lots of links to additional resources.
It enhances pupils reading comprehension skills, as well as understanding of a range of traditions and festivals that they need for their speaking exam, i.e. the stimulus card; The articles can also be used as a basis for students to continue their own independent research - again skills they need for the A Level when it comes to working on their independent research project.
The author has clearly put a lot of effort into creating this resource and I think it is a very useful and accessible resource for students.
