OCR GCSE (J277) Computer Science - Topic Tests
Original and comprehensive topic tests covering every specification topic – ideal for identifying student and whole class weaknesses. All of the content is brand new - written specifically for the OCR J277 specification (first teaching 2020; exams from 2022).
- 26 tests of around 40 marks (average) - each fits perfectly into a single lesson or homework

Great... It was nice to have two tests per topic area to allow for close the gap questions or just a second go at it for those that struggled or one test in year 10 followed by a second in Year 11... great idea
- Combines a range of exam-style and non-exam-style questions to keep all students engaged while providing suitable challenge
- Mark schemes include clear bullet-point answers and guidance for easy marking, plus AO mapping for every question
- An easy-to-set homework or in-class exercise for the end of every topic
What do teachers say about this resource? (11238, 11239)
It is very useful for long-term retrieval and exam practice. Each topic is clearly labelled and the content in it is specification-specific and relevant ... I especially like the variety of questions within a topic, and the exam-style structure of the questions. It is also scaffolded and builds up from simpler retrieval questions to longer written answer questions. This should help make the students familiar with the styles of questions they should expect to be asked in the final exams ... I also like that two of the larger topics on the specification – Memory and Storage and Networking – are broken down into multiple smaller units each, as this will help to ensure that all of the content from those topic areas is assessed without making the assessments too long for the students to sit or for a teacher to mark ... These topic tests would be good as summative assessment ... I also feel that having multiple tests for each topic means that one can be used as an end of unit test during the main teaching and the other could become a revision-driven assessment ... The topic tests themselves are presented in the same layout as they would appear on an official OCR exam paper, which will be beneficial to students’ approach to the exam papers as they go through the course ... The content of the topic tests matches the specification for Component 1 very well. Every topic area on the specification is included in at least one test of its own, and I couldn’t find any question that did not map to a content point mentioned directly in the specification ... I would purchase this resource for use across my department
very good, the questions were varied and followed the specification really well. It was nice to have two tests per topic area to allow for close the gap questions or just a second go at it for those that struggled or one test in year 10 followed by a second in Year 11. This is a great idea ... One of the first things that grabbed me about the resource was the question overview. I think this is really handy for teachers delivering the course. It also shows very clearly that there is a clear range in difficulty and covers all the of assessment objectives... I think that this resources helps teachers and students alike. There are a variety of questions both written and filling in tables and tick boxes. This is a great resource in covering all of the assessment objectives ... The presentation is really clear and follows the exam paper specification really well. The Diagrams are really clear and well labelled. The number of marks allocated to the majority of the questions is good. The marks for each question are clearly labelled and the use of emphasis is also good ... the assessment objectives for each question is handy... allows you to explain to the students about the assessment objectives and the impact of them ... This resource fully and effectively matches the specification for both papers really well. The topics that are covered matches the specification as well as the assessment objectives. The questions are numbered clearly and the questions are written really well and exactly like the specification question papers. This is a really effective re- the specification ... Lovely resource
